Angler and sales and marketing guru Andy Neal has left his role with tackle manufacturer Frenzee to take up a new position handling Italian brand Milo in the UK.
Andy, who will continue his association with Bait-Tech, is launching his own business with two colleagues, which will include the importation and distribution of Milo-branded products in the UK.
He explained: “It’s certainly been an exciting few months for me because things have changed a lot. Bait-Tech has experienced fantastic growth over the last few years. Hayley and the team do a wonderful job and I’m glad to see them getting their just rewards. Part of my role with them is looking after the export business.
“I deal with a host of businesses across Europe, all of whom distribute Bait-Tech products. Milo has been working with Peter Clapperton’s business for quite some time and as an angler myself, who was inspired by world champion characters like this, not only was it an honour to meet him but I got to work closely with him and his business in Italy.
“Over the last few years I’ve been lucky enough to spend a little time with Milo Colombo and the great Steve Gardener at various events he organises across Europe. It’s these events that have led us to what is now a major move for me in both career and personal circumstances.
“The opportunity arose for a sponsorship package with Milo. A move to a brand of this stature was something that, although very hard to consider, was a decision that was really made very quickly.”
As Milo celebrates its 51st year, Andy had the chance to visit the firm’s Italian headquarters and understand not only the size and scale of the tackle operation but also see at first-hand the man’s drive and experience.
“He knows and understands his market well and his knowledge on the European market and how it differs across the countries always has me listening intently,” Andy added.
To take things even further the pair have now confirmed a business arrangement with Andy’s new company, Fishing-IT, bringing Milo products into the UK.
Andy confirmed: “I will still be working with and representing Bait-Tech, hopefully securing further growth throughout the UK and Europe. The next 12 months will certainly be an exciting time. I can’t wait for the season to start!”
